This certificate was developed to address a growing demand by people interested in entering Cannabis industry as growers, medical cannabis providers, or individuals involved with business and/or legal aspects of the industry. The courses created for the Cannabis Studies Certificate program were developed by Stockton faculty and industry leaders to address a growing demand by people interested in entering the cannabis industry.
The courses are designed for online and self-paced education. The Cannabis Studies Certificate is comprised of six (6) courses. You select six of the nine courses listed below to create your own Cannabis Studies Certificate. If you are interested in registering for additional courses, they are available individually in GSMU. You will receive a certificate for each course you complete plus the Cannabis Studies Certificate. See the individual course offerings for course details. 1. What makes wellness tourism different? Wellness tourism is more than just going to a spa for a massage or a facial. It’s about transformative experiences that feed your mind, body and spirit. Maybe it’s sitting quietly while gazing over grassy fields, or visiting an Ayurvedic retreat, or immersing yourself in the experience of an Onsen. Wellness activities are regenerative, restorative, and proactive in supporting healthy living. Wellness tourism is experiential and personal. Participants will gain an understanding of the various aspects of wellness tourism, its evolution and how to engage in this expanding area. Doctor, doctor thyself? Mental Health, Emotional Wellbeing, and Self-care for Mental Health Providers is an important process which can be easily overlooked while caring for others. Quite often can be taboo discussion amongst colleagues. While providers know the effects of physical/mental/emotional/spiritual wellbeing on health, some find it difficult to prioritize their own care. This workshop aims to help mental health professionals identify their own physical symptoms, behaviors in the workplace, and learn useful tools beyond the typical mainstream stereotypes. Create a lifestyle of health and wellness that balances caregiving and caring for the self. Instructor, Jennifer Vazquez, LCSW, will discuss the mental health needs of providers in a sensitive and productive manner that promotes self-care, supports and recognizes the human aspect of the field, and managing their own life stressors while maintaining their roles as providers.

Stockton’s new “Understanding the Spectrum of Eating Disordered Behaviors” Certificate Series, taught by Suzanne Rubinetti, LCSW, features five workshops to address the many aspects of clinical work within the eating disorders. Each workshop is 2.5 hours long, and will focus on various aspects of disordered eating, OCD, family/social dynamics, Orthorexia, and Intuitive Eating. Clinicians in this series will learn the definitions, clinical presentations of the spectrum of eating disorders (via DSM 5), and clinical treatment strategies. Participants will also hear case study examples, learn how to include CBT, exposure therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and mindfulness in treatment, and develop realistic recovery goals with clients. With many overlapping challenges in disordered eating and obsessive compulsive disorder, this series will begin with a 2-part “Eating Disorders & OCD” component which is required for completing the remaining sections of the program. Clinicians who do not complete the first two meetings will not be permitted to complete the series. This series is appropriate for all level clinicians working with both adult and adolescent populations.

Join local instructor, Linda Schwartz, for our 5-part series of Chair Yoga. Chair Yoga is a modified form of yoga using a chair, but we also do standing postures in class which can also be performed in a chair. The class includes the body scan, breathing exercises, gentle movements, chair and standing yoga, meditation and relaxation. Chair yoga has been shown to enhance muscular strength, body flexibility, and respiratory function making it beneficial for individuals of all ages and fitness levels including those with limited mobility, those who sit for extended periods, and those who want a gentle workout. Benefits from Chair Yoga can include: stress reduction, pain management, releasing tension, cardiovascular health, enhanced balance, mental well-being, and soothes the emotions. This course is an introduction to the French language. Conducted in dual French and English by a French-speaking instructor, class sessions include learning techniques with the adult in mind.
